Hair & Skin Health Tour Kicks off in St. Martin this Saturday: Two days of "I Am Beautiful CARIBBEAN"

GREAT BAY, St. Martin — "I Am Beautiful CARIBBEAN," the Natural Hair & Skin Health Workshop Tour is scheduled for Saturday, March, 28 at 7 PM, at Carl's Unique Inn in Cole Bay.

Admission to the workshop is $10, tickets are available at Van Dorp bookstore, said Rochelle Ward, tour organizer and owner of Don't Break the Comb (DBC).

On Sunday, March 29, the hair and skin health tour will be hosted in Anguilla by Nails R Hair. "Participants can expect informative workshops with hair demos, giveaways and sessions on loc maintenance and skin care," said Ward. GREAT BAY/MARIGOT, St. Martin — Do you know how many St. Martin women have written books? This could be a great quiz question for International Women's Day (IWD); and the number of authors might surprise you given the young literary history of this Caribbean island.

To answer the question, a "book table" is being organized for IWD and the corresponding Women's History Month.

St. Martin's first natural hair group and hair care line to launch in June

GREAT BAY/MARIGOT, St. Martin — St. Martin's first natural hair group and hair care product line, "Don't Break the Comb," will launch at the St. Martin Book Fair on June 1, 2013, at 11 am, at the University of St. Martin, said biologist Taymer Mason.

Don't Break the Comb is the brainchild of founders Taymer Mason and Rochelle Ward (Faizah Tabasamu), both writers on the island as well.

From its Facebook and other digital media responses, it appears that the hair care products and the workshop introducing the line, are "highly anticipated," said Ward, a teacher at the St. Maarten Academy high school.

The workshop is entitled "Natural Hair Mixology: Make your own homemade hair products." "We will show attendees how to make quick, safe, easy and natural recipes to combat several hair issues like dryness and breakage," said Mason.
